Our mission is to foster a sustainable and responsible mining sector that contributes to the economic and social development of our members and the nation. We strive to ensure fair access to resources, promote environmentally sound practices, and provide support for the growth and prosperity of our mining community.

Our History

Founded in 2022, the Small Miners Association Guyana Incorporated. (SMAGI) emerged from the need to represent and support the interests of small and medium-scale miners in Guyana. Over the years, SMAGI has grown into a prominent organization, advocating for policy changes, promoting sustainable mining practices, and providing resources and support to its members. From its humble beginnings, SMAGI has become a vital force in the mining sector, driving positive change and fostering a sense of community among miners.

Meet Our Leadership

Director & President
Mr. David Daniels, a highly skilled businessman with more than twenty (20) years’ experience in the Mining Industry, comes with a wealth of knowledge as it relates to regulations in the Mining Sector. Mr. Daniels’s professionalism and passion for the mining sector came from his father, who was influential in him following his path in gold mining.

Mrs. Sonia Daniels currently serves as the Director and Company Secretary of the Small Miners’ Association Guyana Inc., also brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the mining industry.

Mrs. Adonika Spellen currently serves as the Director of the Small Miners’ Association Guyana Inc. “Be the change you want to see in this world". It is a phrase that I have adopted and integrated into my personal life".
